gnome-shell-timer software package provides GNOME Shell extension providing a countdown timer in the top panel, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-timer
gnome-shell-timer is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-shell-timer package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-shell-timer *
You will get with gnome-shell-timer package name, version, architecture and description in a table
